Model: Archer A9
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: 1.1.0

I am getting very low speed on 2.4 GHZ. I have channel setting Auto and width 40 MHZ. I have 100 mbps connection and getting good speed on 5 GHZ but on 2.4 GHZ I am getting only 20 mbps speed. Although I am having only 1 device connected with 2.4 GHZ and I am using single router.

Is there any settings available to increase this speed on 2.4 ghz?

@sjainuni

If only the 2.4G connection is slow, it's quite possible that the 2.4G band around you is highly congested. You can check that by installing an app like Wi-Fi Analyzer on your phone or laptop and test, then set a channel with less congestion according to the test results on the A9.

@sjainuni Dont use 40Mhz bandwidth on 2.4network as that is almost certain to clash with other nearby networks.

I tried it and got faster download by specifying a single 20Mhz band that was clear of my neighbors + 2 channels. (even each 20Mz band clashes a bit with those beside it)

get an app on your phone that shows nearby networks and channels in use.

Thanks @robrbaron for your reply but I don't use 40 Mhz, I tried with Auto and 20 Mhz but no change.

@Kevin_Z I installed Wifi Analyzer on my computer, I checked there are around 5-6 wifi available around me. Most of them are broadcasting on 11 + 6 Chennal so I tried to set chennal 5 for my 2.4 Ghz. But seems no changes in speed. For now the best speed on 2.4 Ghz is 30 mbps on 40 Mhz and Auto Chennal. I also tried to change band from 40 Mhz to 20 Mhz and Auto but still getting only 20 mbps.

Can you please suggest more solutions?

@sjainuni

What is the device that connects to the 2.4G network? How about the brand and model of the wireless adapter? Ensure it is running with the latest driver first.

Test with another 2.4G device just in case the speed is limited by the adapter.

Regarding the channel, please change to 1, save and reboot the router, then reconnect to the network.

@sjainuni  I agree with Kevin

Only use 20Mhz,  channels 1,6 ,11    see graph on  www.accessagility.com/blog/best-wifi-channel-to-use-for-2.4-ghz

how close is your testing device to the router as other items like microwave ovens and older cordless phones can cause interference

is there line-of-sight to the router  as I get much around 130Mbit connection speed from an old laptop. (all new devices use 5gig band)

@Kevin_Z The wireless adeptor for my PC is TP-Link TL-WN823N 300Mbps. I am checking wireless speed on my desktop. It was broadcasting 70 - 80 mbps with my old router. I tried with my laptop also that also has only 2.4 band. Both are producing same speed now 20 mbps on 20 Mhz
