Hello!

Bought a new router, but cannot get it to work. Contacted my ISP, and the only thing they could tell is that I have to set it to dynamic IP.

My settings are like this:



The error logs gives:

The router has internet and sync lights ON (all lights are on except LANs)

I'm kind of desperate.

My old thomson can connect to the internet, but it has a password - I cant see the settings. I'm afraid to hard reset it and lose the connection.

I have spent hours on google without a result :(

Any help woud be appreciated.

If you want to use the TP-LINK to replace the old Thompson one, the settings on the TP-LINK should be the same as what is with the Thompson. If your ISP is using Dynamic IP as their connection type, then the VPI/VCI numbers are quite important, you need to make sure that they match the ones with your ISP. But you said your Thompson has a password, I doubt that your ISP may use PPPoE or PPPoA which requires a username and password to configure the modem.

Yeah, that's the problem - can't access the thomson to see the current settings.

My ISP support (the one that is reachable by phone) has no idea what are those VPI, VCI settings. They just say, that the router shouldn't ask those setting, what a piece of crap that support is :(

Hi TinMan, sure, I'll give my settings, but I'm not sure if they will help, because, as I researched, almost every ISP has their own settings.
My ISP (a-holes, sorry) didn't share their settings, because they only support their own modems, which have their settings hardcoded.


Still, my error logs shows up these errors:

...but I haven't lost my connection as I remember, so I guess these errors are "normal".

Here is the fix simple and easy !
I had this problem and answer is easy DNS address isn't set .Go to your router INTERFACE SETUP--->LAN --->DNS --->USE USER DISCOVERED DNS .Here you can put network settings to use the IP addresses primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers.And save. Then reset and no problems anymore.

Hi guys
I had this problem too and solve it :))
You must change DNS address in Interface Setup > LAN > DHCP > DNS > USE USER DISCOVERED DNS.
You must set google DNS ,
IP addresses primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers.
if don`t success to save it, you must complete
MAC Address with default Config that there are in below list.
