Having just updated the firmware I was surprised that it overwrote my configuration (WAN LAN & WiFi) settings.

Is this normal for TP-Link firmware updates ?

from the tplink upgrade instruction, it;s required to do factory defaults after upgrade, so i believe what you see is quite normal

And where might I find these instructions, there was no attached text file in the bin download nor on the webpage.

The 8968 upgrade did wiped all custom settings. Luckily I had a backup.
