  @Ernis Is there any list of Range extenders that support EasyMesh via Ethernet Backhaul? Like the router list

and MOST important......Why none pointed that RE315 have a LAN port of only 100 mbps? That will be a narrow bottleneck for its 1167 mbps WIFI capability

I think is pointless that tp-link choose that RE315 for start their develompent

Some cheap routers like C80/A8/AX10 have gigabit LAN ports and could be used as Range extenders with ethernet backhaul much better that the RE315

Hope they address this soon!

@David-TP Hey David!

It's been a while since only one range extender - RE315_V1 has received the update.

What about the rest of REs? Could you please share some kind of roadmap with the community?

I have exactly same requirements. I have a big house and WiFi from router not reaching opposite house corner so I have Ethernet cable to there. Not I can create new AP there but I want my house simply share same WiFi. Is this feature already implemented? Which devices I can buy for it? Or it will be via new firmware? I got AX1500 Wi-Fi6 router and AC750(RE200) extender. Right now they do work as one mesh just because I put router in the house middle (weak signal tho). Now I need to move the router to the corner, so the will be no longer see each other so I need this feature instead.

  @s1n1st3r This is called mesh over ethernet backhaul. I use this with two Archer AX10 routers. I connected LAN port of both routers and enabled one mesh. Now one router should be selected as satellite and one should be Main.

I have been trying to figure out why there is only one Range Extender model supporting Ethernet Backhaul (the RE315) and I have been in contact with customer support.

In fact, one of the models I asked them about was the RE505X.

And now I found this thread where I can see that this has been an ongoing request since 2021... Unbelievable.

@Pablo712 & @Ernis, I thought I'd tag you here.

Customer support told me:

"As for your concern, EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul, the RE550 is expected to be supported this year, while other models will need to wait until next year for new firmware support. However, it is worth noting that we cannot guarantee the release time of the firmware for reasons such as firmware testing."

EasyMesh Ethernet Backhaul was added to the RE315 in 2023, and for the whole year of 2024, they are only planning to add it to another Range Extender model. And even that they are not guaranteeing.

How to describe this?

  @LuisFN

Hi! Thanks for the update.

For some reason, I'm not surprised by their answer.

To be fair, I have kind of given up on the TP-Link and its products. If the company stays in silence for another couple of months I will just move to ASUS and their solutions.

At least they could give us some kind of roadmap for this feature. Because it just takes way too long to do this simple software update. It's just a software update, nothing more.
