I just bought the m9plus and can't use acceptable security either.

I do notice your current firmware 1.2.11 and 1.4.0 are a little outdated.
The firmware 1.4.3 and above has added the ability to customize the wireless security:

I have the Deco 9 Plus, hardware version 2.8. Is it also appropriate for me to use the updater and firmware update for 2.0 listed above for my 2.8? There is no firmware section on the support page for hardware version 2.8. I also need the updated firmware to be able to update the security settings.
I don't know why TP-Link doesn't just push the update through the app updater now if it's not considered a beta any longer.
There is 2.8 firmware on US and Canadian TP-Link Web site, but it is quite old. If you can't find 2.8 firmware page at your regional TP-Link web site, perhaps you bought your M9 from different region?
