Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20211125 rel.59476(4555)

Evening,

I've recently joined the TP-Link side after being a Netgear customer for quite a number of years. But after having issues, I opted for the the TP-Link AX73 5400 as it was an upgrade to the AX WiFi. I also bought an RE605X and making good use of the Mesh network.

My issue I have come across is that seems switching from my previous router, my latency has doubled in some places - like when doing speed tests or simple pings to such as the BBC.

I am hardwired / ethernet cable to the TP-Link router and I haven't changed any of the settings since the initial setup (only set the Wifi name and password)

I am with TalkTalk UK via CityFibre network (full fibre to the properly, the speed is unaffected with 1Gbps down and up)

Many Thanks

Kieren

@Kieren092

Hello Kieren, thank you for posting on the TP-Link community forum.

Can I confirm what is the model of the previous Netgear router? When you are mentioning the ping latency, are the tests performed in the same location as well as on the same PC? As far as I may understand, there might be little influence on the network usage when there is a 6ms difference or latency when doing the ping test. Can I confirm again if this can be easily perceived in the network? If yes, please let me know what does it effect, we can confirm.

BTW, how about the RE605X, does it join the AX73 Onemesh network when you are performing the test? Will it make any difference if you remove it from the network and power it off?

@Kevin_Z Apologies for the update. It didn't occur to me to try connecting directly to my fibre hub / modem directly to test it from there and I had the same latency increase as when using the TP-Link router as with another spare I had. The only issue I had otherwise was the router would hang with a USB 3.0 drive connected after 10 mins or so but that isn't an issue for me and I put that down to the drive. Other than the drive, the AX73 is spot on, handles everything I've thrown at it and the Wifi 6 is making use of the 1Gb connection or close to it! Just to advise having the mesh setup with the RE605X makes no difference to the latency on the wired devices Many thanks and feel free to close this thread down now
