Home Mesh Network with M5 & EAP225 (AC1200)

Hello, I have an Home Mesh Network composed of 3 Decos M5, one as a Main Deco and the other two connected in series through Ethernet Cable.

I'd like to connect a fourth one to the chain, still with Ethernet Cable, for outdoor coverage (garden), and I am thinking of EAP225 (aka AC1200), which seem to have Mesh capabilities (I see it also among the models I can choose inside the Deco App to extend the Mesh Network) but I see this last is always proposed for Omada or Omada Mesh Networks.

Question is, can I add a EAP225 / AC1200 to my current Mesh Network of three M5s , all connected in Ethernet chain?

Thanks in advance.

Davide

 EAP245 could be connected to M5 via Ethernet cable, but EAP245 would only work as a normal AP. and their wireless network is not able to create a Mesh network.

@TP-Link

Hello and many thanks for your reply.

Here additional info and pictures:

- On the Deco app I see the possibility to add to the Mesh chain also an AC1200, but I am not sure we are talking about the same product, see picture attached.

- Ideally I would like to add the EAP225 - AC1200 to the existing chain of three M5s (see picture attached) and have a unique Mesh Network (3 M5s + 1 EAP225) with same SSID, and specially handle all of them with same TP-LINK DECO App

- The third picture is about the EAP225 - AC1200 product itself, this is the only Outdoor access point I have found that (I thought) I can add to the chain and have a unique Mesh Network, in case this is not possible which (outdoor) Access Point you suggest for my case?

Thanks a lot again in advance.

Regards

Davide

@DavideBer

Hi, thank you for getting back to me.

I am afraid that the AC1200 here refers to Deco M4/E4/S4, not AC1200 EAP225.

As I mentioned before, you are able to wire EAP245 via cable to the nearest Deco M5 and also set up the same SSID as Deco.

But you cannot manage EAP225 on the Deco APP, for example, if you changed the SSID on Deco APP, only M5 will use the new SSID, EAP225 would still use the previous one unless you login into the EAP control UI/Omada app and change it again.

Currently, there is no outdoor AP that could be used to create Mesh with Deco. So if you are not worried about separate control of Omada EAP, I think EAP225-outdoor is a nice choice.
