Had recently added the new X68 3 pack at home, and had the M5 3 pack at another place.

TP Link have tricked me hear into thinking I was getting a better product, what a mistake.  In going the X68 they use Homeshield VS Homecare in the M5 and in the process defeature the software,

The remove things like

- virus protection

- time limits on device

- content filtering

- multiple off times (User profiles)

All of these things are free in Homecare, but if you want them in Homeshield they force you to upgrade to the Pro Version for $90 a year.  So, happy I paid 3 times the price to ghet the X68 when the M5 has all this stuff included.

Anyone else been fooled by this?

@APOM yes, so I did an Amazon return citing this reason.  Their listing stated HomeCare, but the product I received had HomeShield.
Looking back, I likely wouldn't have used the features, but just felt deceived \ tricked when purchasing.  If the listing had of been updated, I wouldn't have felt tricked, but I went exploring for the features in the listing.

You will find that the M5 is now HomeShield NOT HomeCare other than that I don't know the specs.

On the x20, they released a new hardware model, halved the CPU cores, dropped the CPU clock speed, moved features to a subscription model (ie: HomeCare to HomeShield) and didn't lower the price.

I'll likely buy the unit gain, as it seemed decent, but wait for a sale as I can't justify full price with these changes.

So YES I was tricked, but it's not model specific, looks to be across all their products.

  @SPAM_Me_NOT

Hi, Nice to see you again, and Thank you for your feedback.

HomeCare and HomeSheild are different home security services powered by separate manufacturers. Both have their pros and cons.

And Deco M5 still uses HomeCare and may I know where you see it is HomeSheild now?

--It would help if you could share with me some links in case of further confusion.

As mentioned here before, CPU performance depends on more than cores and clock speed.

For the different hardware versions of Deco X20, I am sure their performance is quite comparable.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Thank-you for the correction, I must have mis-read the technical specs of the M5. The Amazon listing from the "TP-Link store" for the x20 still shows HomeCare with a QuadCore CPU. You could be right about the performance, but buyers feel tricked when they purchase a product and the actual specifications have change. Like if CPU doesn't matter, then why mention it.
