Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello, i have a deco m5. I have only 1 Lan available at my modem/router where I connected my main deco and internet works fine.

Now I tried to connect my cctv (hikvision) to the main deco extra lan port, but then the cctv is not visible/working by wifi.

I changed the setting to Access Point of the deco and then it suddenly worked.

Now my question is, why does it work in Access Point and not in Wireless Router mode? Shouldn't the extra Lan port at the deco always have internet?

Or is it better to expand my single Lan port with a separate lan-switch/hub?

Thank you for your help.

If your modem/router is doing NAT then probably the issue is caused by the double NAT in your LAN (introduced when M5 is in router mode).

Deco in AP mode:

If when Deco M5 is in AP mode suits your needs then leave it like that - thus avoiding the double NAT in your LAN.

If you need more ethernet ports in your LAN you can by a gigabit switch and use it like in this guide (with ethernet backhaul) or with wireless backhaul.

Deco in router mode:

If for any reason you need your Deco M5 in router mode you can try setting your modem/router in bridge mode and use Deco M5 in router mode - again avoiding the double NAT.

In this scenario the switch should be connected after your main Deco M5.
