Model: Deco X60
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Deco X60(US)_V2_1.5.1_20210204

I have a pair of Deco X60 that are setup as AP mode. My ISP modem/router has enough Ethernet ports so i connect a X60 unit to one Ethernet port separetely. Therefore this is a star topology configuration around the router. Wired Ethernet connection is used between router and X60 unit. Currently I have different network ID for each X60 unit, it means two WIFI networks in my house. But it seems that it can't benefit from the Mesh technology of Deco. However If I change network IDs to a single names I still see two networks from my Deco App instead of one, it looks no difference.

The questions are:

1. Can AP mode be configured in Star topology? or has to be in daisy connection?

2. If star toplogy is accepted, should the network ID be same or different to benefit from Mesh technique?

thanks for the help!

  @JSLiu

Hi, welcome to the community.

It seemed like you have created two Mesh networks using 2*X60 individually, instead of adding one as a satellite Mesh unit for the other.

like the following pictures, one Mesh network with 5 Deco units.

so it is suggested that you could add one X60 into the Mesh network of the first X60, such as-How to add a new Deco network through Deco app?

After that, change to the access point again and you could still connect 2*X60 to the main ISP router via different Ethernet ports, such as the layout on the following link:
