The manual says "To enable or disable the extended network: ". Does this mean I can just disable the range extender functionality, and use this device as a wireless bridge, or does this also disable the functionality to connect wirelessly to my modem? All I need is a way to connect a wired device to my wireless modem, I don't want to contaminate the neighbourhood with more radio signals...

@Solla-topee This is not correct. Disabling the extended networks does not disable the ability to connect the device to the modem/router. This would render the device useless. It makes it possible to use the device as a client bridge.

Correction:

Disabling / Unchecking 'Extended network' only turn of the extended Wi-Fi SSID, will not range extender's functionality to connect wirelessly to the router/ modem router.

If you do not want your neighbour see the Wi-Fi SSID of range extender, you could hide SSID, in that way, the range extender still works, but only SSID is hidden (need manually putting in SSID and wifi password to connect ext- Wi-Fi )
