Model: Archer AX11000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Problem:  5G bands (both 5G-1 and/or 5G-2) disapear, or shown but unable to connect with correct password, at random time.  This can happen on only one of the two 5G bands (more frequently), or both 5G bands (less often).

Frequency:  Random.  Sometimes 3~4 times a week, sometimes good for 2~3 weeks.  Problem can last 5~10 minutes or several hours.

System:  AX11000.  Latest Firmware.  Smart Connect off.  Three bands:  2G, 5G-1, 5G-2.  Channel: Auto;  Channel Width:  Auto.  IPv6 off.

Clients distance to the router is irrelevant.  Client can be in the same room and 3 feet from router and still don't get 5G WiFi.

Clients Example:  iPad Gen 9 (wifi 6),  iPhone 11, Apple TV, Android Smart TV, Android Streaming Box, etc.

Please advise if you have a solution.  Thank you in advance.

@wubeone

Does this mean the 2.4G signal is stable all the time? Or there are no devices connecting to the 2.4G?

I would suggest you try to modify the 5G settings on the AX11000, you can run a Wi-Fi analyzer on the phone to review the 5G networks around you, then choose one that with less interference with others to observe if the connection will be more stable.

Is the AX11000 brand new or it was working fine before? You may also refer to this article to check if it is located in a proper location:

You may go through his FAQ as well - such behavior could be caused by wireless radar systems around you when using DFS channels.

You may read this story too to see how to optimize the 'wireless channel' and 'channel width' selection in your router.

  @Kevin_Z

Thank you Kevin_Z for responding.

2.4GHz are mostly smart switches, lights, Echos, etc.  I didn't pay much attention if it is always stable.  But when 5G-1 or 5G-2 drops, my iPhone or TV will connect to 2.4G band.

Any recommend WiFi analyzer for iOS?

I have this AX11000 for about 4 months.  This problem has always been there but it's intermittent.  At beginning I thought it's only a few times and I can deal with it.  But after few months it still happens.  That's why I seek help on this forum.

Thank you,

wubeone

  @terziyski

Thank you terziyski.  I kind of get it.  But be honest, not really.

What I get is don't use auto channel select.  I need one channel/bandwidth for 5G-1 and another set for 5G-2, right?

Do you have recommendation which channel/bandwidth to pick?

Thank you again,  -wubeone

If you went through the story I posted, the most reasonable choices are:

1. If you have 160MHz capable devices try for 5G-1: Channel 36 / Width 160,  for 5G-2: channel 100 / Width 160

2. If you don't have 160MHz capable devices try:

  • for 5G-1: Channel 36 / Width 80,  for 5G-2: channel 100 / Width 80

or

  • for 5G-1: Channel 52 / Width 80,  for 5G-2: channel 100 / Width 80

You can test all options and choose the one which suits your needs better.

I believe that the second option would give you more connection stability at the expense of its speed.
