So I have this issue with some smart ass kids....

So side note on my wifi system, I have been using it to track who comes in, and out of my house. I fear that I have a teenager is sneaking out of the house. I set the notifications up to let me know when the teens phone connects and disconnects with the wifi. I didn't want to put up extra cameras because that would be obvious and I already had this system in place. It worked well, until the teen figured it out.

it was working well until I noticed I'm not getting the notifications anymore. I know she's in the house, and connected to wifi. It's an iPhone, and I figured out you can hide it from showing as connected on the wifi network. Is there any way to force it to show? I know the MAC ID, but I know you can change that too.

if I delete the device on the list, will it ping me as a new device, even if it's being hidden by using a private IP?

Hi, I tested that with private address enabled on iPhone, and it will still show up on the online client list but display "UNKNOWN", not "Hidden".

Since I have set up connection alerts for "New Device Alerts", I will still get notifications in the Message.

And if an offline device is deleted from the client list, it will ping as a new device next time and if you set up the "New Device Alerts", there will be a push notification as well.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

Thank you! I was playing around with it yesterday and I noticed exactly what you said. However, after about 10 min, it will disappear and show as offline, even if it is on the network. So unless I catch it at the time, it's hard to tell when it left.

So this is what I see. UNKNOWN has joined. about 10 min later, UNKNOWN has disconnected. Even if that iPhone, is still on the network. Then I have to forget that device (iPhone), because unless I delete it, I don't think it notifies me on re-entry (I need to double check the notification settings to be sure).

So it's hard to timestamp. If it's on the network, but showing offline. Have you found it to work different?

Thanks for the update.

Have you tried to change the device name to the actual device name, for example, I know this "UNKNOWN" is my iPad so I change the device name to "My iPad"-How to change the name of the client on the Deco app?; then set up "Known Device Alerts" when it is online and offline?

Yes I have tried to rename. The app then still leaves it in the history of connected devices.

So what happens is, shows up as UNKNOWN, I then rename. However within a few min, it then shows offline, and even though it is still on the network. After that, it will never alert me as a new sign on, unless I go through and delete it off list of devices.
