I am getting slightly higher pings on my router than my standard ISP router.
Also downloads are much lower esp with game accelerator etc.

Is there any way that you could provide more information regarding the issue you are reporting with the Archer AX11000 router (what's the bandwidth you paid, how is the AX11000 connected to the network, who is your ISP, etc)?
With regard to the ping concern, I'm going to point you to a story that we had that may show you if the ping is normal and what can you do:
