Hi,

 

The performance of the Deco P9 Wifi has recently decreased to a state that it's sometime unusable.

My phone, for example (recent Google Pixel) has been strugling to keep the Wifi connection. Deconnecting and reconnecting often, slow download/upload speed.

 

The WebUI (http://tplinkdeco.net/) reports that all my deco are using 100% of the CPU (It stays at 100% even after multiple refresh). The WebUI is also extremely slow and often not working.


 

My Deco (P9) are using an ethernet backhaul:

 

 

I've deactivated any QoS setup, and also SIPALG,  Fast Roaming, BeamForming.

 

The current configuration is using the "Wi-Fi Router mode". I've tried switching to Access Point mode to relieve the Main deco of most of the management (dhcp, firewall, etc..) and let the ISP router handle it. But this has not solve any problem.

 

My ISP provides me with ~7 Gbit DL and up to 1Gbit Upload (Fiber).

 

Why is my deco always on 100% load, with a degraded WebUI performance. Would this explain my wifi issues ?

Hi, welcome to the community, and Thanks for the detailed information.

May I know how long you have had the Deco P9?

Could you please change the P9 to access point mode and adjust the network layout like the following pictures:

At the same time, please try to turn off 2.4ghz on the main network and enable the guest network for 2.4ghz only to see whether it could improve the stability.

Did the proposed solution resolve your issue. my setup is the same as yours with the exception that my pc is connected to the desco and i am constantly having to reboot my P9. Once rebooted, i will get about 100M\b download (my ISP speed) but after a few days, this will drop to about 30mb. Repeat the process of rebooting my P9 and im back to 100mB

 

 

The Web UI is also very slow.

Thanks for helping me out here.

 

I got the Deco P9 for about a year now.

 

I'll make the change to the backhaul and mode (AP) this weekend , as I'm not home this week.

Hi, 

 

I've changed the cabling situation to the recommended one (not chaining the deco) and turn the P9s into AP mode.

Unfortunatelly it did not change much. Devices are still getting disconnected and suffering from slow bandwith.

 

I've also deactivated the 2.4GHz wifi, however I can't say the stability has improved or not (It disconnected more than 50% of my devices).

Well, my P9 just dies if I use Bittorrent, it runs, stalls, runs. CPU 100%. I have 300mbps connection and it's not able to handle this with the bittorrent client requests that go through. Not sure it's up to the job....
