Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20220117 Rel.74491

I'm having the worst time setting up port forwarding for this router.

WAN is a static IP, primary DNS/Gateway are 192.168.1.85, I am assigning the ER7206 to 192.168.1.1

LAN is set to 192.168.7.1, DHCP is serving 192.168.7.2-254, default gateway is 192.168.7.1.

I added a NAT virtual server for IP 192.168.7.210, external port 22, internal port 22, with all traffic, it's enabled.

The port still shows as being closed.  The ISP insists the problem is in the router.  Does anyone know of another setting or adjustment in the router to make this work?

I had the same problem where port forwarding was setup but not working.

What worked for me was doing a factory reset and then configuring it again. Must have been some conflicting setting I had tested with before or some type of caching issue.

Agree with what @ dsj said, also suggest you check if the WAN IP is a public IP, if it is a private IP suspect that there is a double NAT in your network and you need to open the port on the NAT device on the front end of the ER7206 as well.

Just striving to develop myself while helping others.

Thank you for all replies, I still have not fixed the problem.

There is a load balancing device in front of the router (serving gateway/internet on 192.168.1.85).  I can physically connect a computer to the load balancing device and SSH through the router to the require resource using the router's IP.  This tells me that the port forwarding/virtual server is functional on the router side of things.

@kald_c

We have been having trouble with the smaller router ER605 and port forwarding.  After every reboot it stops working and we have to delete/recreate the forwarding rules.  We have it connected to an Omada controller.  I've contacted support but they have yet to acknowlge theres an issue with port forwarding and help resolve it.  This may be a firmware bug affecting both models.  I'm about to remove this router as it's causing too much trouble of a basic fuction not working correctly.
