Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.6

I'm currently using three Deco M9 Plus and one Deco M5 in a mesh in AP mode and a separate modem / router connected to the Internet acts as DHCP server. That is working nicely but due to changes at my ISP I would like to change to using the main Deco M9 as the router:

Internet <-> Modem / router <-> Deco M9 main <-> switch <-> cabled devices
                                     ^______________________WiFi connected devices

And when I set Deco M9 to Router mode this is working -- all devices will get a DHCP address and all devices can connect to the internet, but their addresses differs on the third block.

  • All wireless devices have IP4 addresses in the range 192.168.68.xxx
  • All cabled devices have IP4 addresses in the range 192.168.0.xxx

I known that I can change the IP LAN address from 192.168.68.xxx to e.g. 192.168.87.xxx in the IOS app but still the cabled devices will have 192.168.0.xxx.

Hence my wireless IOT sensor can no longer report to my cabled data collector.

How can I change the way the IP addresses are handed out?

Thank you in advance!

  @JensOtto

Hi, Thank you very much for your feedback. Deco does not support multiple IP ranges so far I think the 192.168.0.x range is not from Deco, more like from the ISP router.

For your network topology here:

Internet <-> Modem / router <-> Deco M9 main <-> switch <-> cabled devices
                                     ^______________________WiFi connected devices

When Deco M9 plus is set up in router mode, is the network layout still like the above?

If possible, you could run an ARP checking on the cable-connected devices to find out the MAC address of the DHCP server that is assigning 192.168.0.x range. (Normally the DHCP server IP should be 192.168.0.1)

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thank you for your answer. I'll try and see if it is my ISP router that issues addresses in the 192.168.0.x range. That however would mean that I have messed up my cabling which I of course wouldn't do wink.

My network topology shown in the original question is the to-be configuration. In my current configuration all cabled devices and switches are connected directly to the ISP router and Deco M9 works in AP mode.
