Hi - I am struggling with reliable connectivity.

 

I have been scanning the wifi access points in my vicinity and run wifi diagnostics and my Macbook is suggesting I change channels to avoid congestion, upon review it seems my DECO X68 is configured for. the US, but I live in Australia.

 

Current Channels are:

5Ghz = 40

2.4Ghz = 3

 

Suggestion is to use:

5Ghz = 161

2.4Ghz = 11

 

I have tried rebooting my DECO and the 2.4Ghz changed from channel 2 --> 3 but 5Ghz remained on channel 40.

 

I have tried all options in app but cannot find how to change channels.  I have also tried the DECO TestFlight App too.

 

Firmware = 1.0.1 Build 20220518 Rel. 30814

  @thomas- Hi, Deco does not support changing channels yet.

5G channels(149-165) are on a quite higher wireless frequency and some clients do not support these channels. Usually, it would not be used as a preferred channel.

Have you scanned any network nearby on the Mac which is between 149-165? So far,  I see the other two 5Ghz networks both use DFS channels.

 

I see you also mentioned network reliable connectivity. Can I have more details about it? Maybe it is related to the current channel of 5ghz.

  @David-TP I searched for how to change the channel and this has been an issue since 2019! I (and I assume many others based on the forum) have issues with Deco NOT choosing the best channel. It's like it does the opposite and chooses the most congested channels. Surely it doesn't take nearly 3 years to develop a solution for choosing a channel.

It's crazy. Mine has been stuck in the same channel since day one and tp-link seems to know better. It's broken and they won't fix it. At least give us the option.
