Model: Archer C5400X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.2 Build 20191223 ref. 73956

I recently purchased AC5400 rrouter to replace my Spectrum router. After getting everythin set up the 2.4Ghz network appears available but with no internet connection. The 5Ghz is working as expected and devices can successfully. Windows Network Diagnostics shows, "Your DNS server might not be available." I previously tried a TP-Link AX1800 which had the exact same issue. Is there any way to fix this?

  @Mac2636

Hi, Did all the 2.4ghz devices have the same issue, like your mobile phone?

And are you able to ping the LAN IP of C5400X to check the LAN communication?

How to Use the Ping Command

If possible, please try to set up a static IP address on the Windows PC to see whether it made any difference, such as:

192.168.0.100

255.255.255.0

192.168.0.1

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi David. Thanks so much for responding.

All devices had the same issue when connected to the 2.4ghz. Android phone, iPad, Windows 10 PC, and Echo Show.

I contacted Spectrum tech support to see if anything needed to be done to the modem settings. However, they indicated it would have to be a TP-Link issue.

While waiting for my son to finish his online homework tonight, I decided to try and connect the C5400X to one of the ehternet ports on Spectrum's router. Low and behold, the 2.4ghz connection works fine now. I am assuming it is something with Spectrum's modem settings that is preventing the 2.4ghz from working when connected directly to the Spectrum modem.

I will try the pinging and static IP later when my son is finished, but the recent testing leads me to believe this is an issue with Spectrum.

Would you agree with that conclusion?
