I am not talking of the router but the switch itself. On the box, it says that we can manage it and i would like to do it.

The model you mentioned is not a managed switch, namely the SG1008D. This is a plug and play auto negotiation switch.
Is that model correct? What are you reading on the box that mentions the ability to manage the device?
