Model: Deco S7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.3 Build 20221107 Rel. 61094

Hi all,

could anyone help me with my red light issue? I have 4 Deco S7, 3 are connected by Ethernet & 1 Wi-Fi
my main deco has a constant red light and the other 3 flash red.

I have change from modem mode to access points,

I have put the main deco in the DMZ

i have then turned off the firewall entirely ( is back in now)

Yet nothing seems to stop this red light from appearing

rebooting the network is the only way to stop the red light, but that is only for a brief time.

deco app suggests everything is ok

diagnostic is all clear

And my internet connection is perfect.

the light must indicate something wrong but I have no idea what.

thanks

  @S111YSY

Hi, welcome to the community.

Do you mean, when Deco S7 turned red, clients that connected to S7 were still able to get internet service and Deco APP also reported "Everything looks good"right?

May I know the model number of your main ISP router? Except for the firewall, have you ever set up any DNS filtering on the main ISP router? or any extra Home Security/Parental Control systems, like Norton Family/Circle Home Plus?

Deco would check its internet connection status by sending several DNS requests to third-party servers.  Take google.com for example, if the domain name has returned correctly with a valid IP address. The online detection passes and the LED is white, otherwise red.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi David, thank you for your quick response, appreciated.

yes, main deco is red constantly.  The others just flash red.
deco app stated (everything looks good)

and I have no issue with the any connections.

I want the light to be turned off, however red is on even when LED setting is off.

I have BT full fibre with the super hub 2

i have no DNS filtering that I can seen on my main router settings

no other security than the standard firewall either

the only setting I can see is dynamic DNS where in the router settings state

To use a dynamic domain name system (DNS) service, you'll first need to register with a service provider. The service provider will send you the information that you'll need to set up your Hub (including your service username, password and host name)

do I need to set something up for deco to work correctly

thank you

sy

  @David-TP

Hi again

just an update of a possible fix

I have copied the DNS address from my main ISP router and entered it in the deco app IPv4 primary and secondary DNS

the light has gone out for now and hopefully for good. If this has fixed my problem, thank you for pointing me in the right direction with the DNS.

hopefully this may help others also

cheers Sy
