Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have recently installed 6 Deco M4 units as a wi-fi router network.  Two units connect directly wirelessly to the main unit; three units, on a lower floor, connect wirelessly as slaves to the two units connected to the main unit.  All seems to be working OK but when I attempt to connect a tablet or phone to the wi-fi of any of the three slave units I get an incorrect password message.  The tablet and phone connect without any problem to the main unit and the two units connected to it.  Can anyone suggest a fix to this problem?  Thanks in advance.

@Painless I have exactly the same problem. I Configured 6 Deco M4 and the wifi password works only on the main Deco node. I recognized that some older devices with 2.4 GHz were able to connect also to the slave decos. For a simple test, I disabled the 5 GHz bandwidth and suddenly all devices were able to connect also to the slave decos. It looks like that there are some kind of sync problems for the 5 GHz password from the main deco to the slave decos.

I also tried to change the password / ssid to enforce a password sync. across all deco nodes. Unfortunately this didn't work for me.

I will try to reset the whole network and perform a factory reset on the decos.

@Hope62 Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Could you please help me check the following details:

1. Can I have the model number of the devices that would report the incorrect password error on 5Ghz?

2. If temporarily enabling a guest network for 5ghz only without a password, would the same issue happen again on these devices?

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

@Hope62 Thank you for sharing the solution to my password problem.  Limiting the bandwidth to 2.4 GHz solved the password issue.

  @David-TP

1. Can I have the model number of the devices that would report the incorrect password error on 5Ghz?

Model: Deco M4 (EU) Ver: 4.0

2. If temporarily enabling a guest network for 5ghz only without a password, would the same issue happen again on these devices?

Yes Issue happens again. Some devices (Phones, laptops, ...) are able to connect to the 5 Ghz guest (no password), if I try repeatedly (10-20 times) to connect them.

But if connected, the connection is very unstable and slow and breaks after a while. After a new reconnect the issue happens again.

@Hope62 same happens to me. It looks like connection works only on main unit and those slaves which are directly connected to main unit. On slaves which are connected to other slave, connection fails to authenticate:

main deco (works) -> slave1 (seems to work) -> slave2/3 (incorrect password).

Also I can confirm that this issue persists only with 5Ghz Wi-Fi mode - with 2.4Ghz only mode everything works fine.

All the Decos are updated to latest firmware versions available. Tried to reset only those non-working units, as well as rebuilding whole the network by resetting all units (including the main one) - nothing helps. There was no such a problem before last firmware update some time ago (maybe during last month or so).
