Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20200714 Rel 18254 (4555)

I've had the AX6000 router for a couple of years, up until the last week it's worked flawlessly. Now my 5GHz channel on all wireless devices (3 iphones, 3 iPads, a laptop

and desktop PC) continually drops the 5Ghz connection or it displays as present but won't connect. 2.4 GHz channel is unaffected.I have to reboot router and devices to restore connection but it disconnects soon after.

Will upgrading to Firmware 1.2.4 Build 202110719 Rel 12163 fix the issue?

Hi,

I would suggest upgrading the router firmware to the latest version first, then observe if the issue persists.

If the 5GHz still drops, you may try to modify the 5GHz channel and choose one that is less crowded with others, then monitor the connectivity.

  @Cawsie

HI, Interesting! Many thanks for your reply.

I checked my config - both my 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz channels are set to WPA/WPA2-Personal.

Are you suggesting that I change the 5 gHZ to WPA/WPA3-Personal ?

Out of curiosity, are your devices new? I am having issues with the Wi-Fi 6 (ax). I recently set the device to operate only on 802.11a/n/ac mixed. Older devices don't seem to have connectivity issues on these modes. https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/602188

Hi  @Cattalins

No the PC wifi card and AX6000 router are about 2 years old. I upgraded the router firmware but still couldn't connect to my 5GHz

channel on my PC. I got so fed up with all the messing about, I bought a brand new AX3000 card, plugged it in and without touching the drivers on the PC it works perfectly. I'm guessing my old wifi card must be faulty.
