How can I set up this router as a wireless repeater?

 

It does not have an Operation Mode option.

I run it as DSL Router Modem Mode, WDS Bridging enabled, main modem and VR300 is on the same wireless channel, DHCP disabled, I have scanned and have chosen the SSID of the main modem, security settings are completed. However when I choose the SSID of the VR300, I have no internet?

Any help?

Make sure that you're with the latest FW for your VR300 - here.

Use this guide for configuring VR300 WDS.

Well, thank you.

I have already performed what the guide has said and repeated again but nothing changed. However there are two issues;

1- The final Firmware upgrade file is not accepted by the software. It says "Error code: 4503  The uploaded file was not accepted."

 

 

 

 

2- The IP address of the root router is 192.168.1.1, same with the extended router. When I change the IP address of the extended router to say, 192.168.1.21, after rebooting I can no longer reach to the extended router on this 192.168.1.21 ip. Neither with ethernet cable or over WiFi. I reset the extended router than I can reach over 192.168.1.1

I can't say what's the reason for the "Error code: 4503", but the reason you don't have access to the extended router (VR300) is most probably that VR300 can't build WDS with your root router. This way, you don't have access to VR300 web interface and any device trying to connect to VR300 can't get an IP address from the DHCP server of the root router.

Check this disclaimer:
WDS may be incompatible between different products (even occasionally from the same vendor) since the IEEE 802.11-1999 standard does not define how to construct any such implementations or how stations interact to arrange for exchanging frames of this format.-----From Wikipedia
In this kind of situations a better approach is to use a range extender to expand your wireless coverage than a WDS capable device.

Mmmm... That makes some point. Some eezy beezy techno code bits, behave on their own and you can do nothing logical but only reboot everything, update some drivers and just hope it resolves. The main router is AX1500 from TP-LINK.
Seems like best outcome I can have is sometimes things work and not other time.

You got it right. Depending on the device FW, some devices may or may not have so called "WDS mode" setting.
