Is it possible to define 2 SSIDs simultaneously on my mesh of 4 Deco M5?

 

My desire is to have one SSID on 2.4 and 5GHz band for internet browsing of computers, laptops, phones etc and the other SSID on 2.4GHz band only for light switches, electricity smart meter, other IOT devices.

 

I currently have all of the above on one SSID. What is the risk if I use the Guest network with a password for IOT like connectivity?

Hi, welcome to the community.

For Deco M5, a new firmware that supports a separate IOT network will be released later.

So far, you have already found a workaround to have the second SSID via Guest Network. The guest network is separated from the main network, and the guest clients are also separated from each other. So smart home devices on the guest network are unable to communicate with other devices.
