Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Have 3 year old optus sagecomm modem (wifi turned off) with a connected mesh system consisting of one m5 plus 3 s4 satellites. I am a light user with no gaming needs. I am not concerned with speed but coverage is very average in my 2 storey home. I wish to update my system. Better coverage is higher priority than speed. Optus offer a new model modem, but I am attracted by a tp link archer vr400 or deco x20 modem/router. My ISP is Optus and the NBN is FTTC.

Any suggestions ?

Hi, welcome to the community.

Since Archer VR400 is a DSL modem router, so is the "Deco X20 modem/router" here Deco X20-DSL?

Since there are already 3-pack Deco N5, it would be great to stay with the Deco Mesh system so that later the first Deco M5 is able to wirelessly connect to Deco X20-DSL to further extend the wireless coverage.

And if you use Archer VR400, you might still need to wire M5 via cable to VR400.

About Deco X20-DSL, unlike Deco M5, it is equipped with a HomeShield Security system, not HomeCare like Deco M5 anymore.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
