Model: TL-PA4010P KIT
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I am working on my friends TL-PA4010P extenders and trying to turn off the automatic 'Sleep' function which I believe you do with the Utility.

The router is a Virgin Media one and it tells me that the extenders are 192.168.0.13/24.

I am connecting my laptop to each extender with a network cable.

I can ping the extender with the IP addresses above however if I try and 'Add' a device through the utility using the extenders 'Powerline Key', the utility says it can't connect.

This is the same on both extenders.

The utility is for the V3.0 extender which is correct.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Regards, Graham.

  @GrahamK1

Hi,

If you connect your laptop via network cable to any one of the two TL-PA4010 adapters and fire up the tpPLC utility, do you see the adapter you are physically connected to in the GUI of the tpPLC utility?

If not, then there must be something particullar with your laptop. Are there any other active network connections on that laptop that could lead to the tpPLC utility choosing the wrong network connection?

If you find nothing unusual, then maybe try to temporarily disable any network adapters (including virtual network adapters) other than the Ethernet adapter you are actually using.

By the way, here is a guide for how to disable the Power Saving Mode.

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/2018/

Edit: I just saw another article that mentions something about disabling firewall and anti-virus software.

  @GrahamK1

Thank you very much, that rally helped.

I was following the instructions so carefully, I missed the obvious.

When I connected my laptop, I did indeed see two adapters but as they weren't displaying any IP information that matched what I was looking for, I did what I thought was logical and tried to add the devices using their keys.

I now assume it failed as those devices were already connected.

So I have managed to disable the "Sleep" option using your link to the FAQ; however I can't actually find the Utility Manual on the website,

Many thanks indeed,

Graham.
