So I added a five port switch to my the receiver of my powerline adaptor but no connection works out of the switch. Does the software not support this?

A network switch shouldn't require any software support from the devices that are connected to it.
Does that switch work fine when you connect it to the main router of your network?
What is the brand and model number of that switch?
