Why do access control rules apply to guest networks?  This does not make sense to me.

 

Why do I have to disable access control so that guests can access the net via the guest network?

 

This issue has been mentioned multiple times since 2019 still no updates from the tp-link team. 😡😡😡

While we don't have any specific details that I can share around if the access control will be changed to not apply to guest network, or when it might, I'll make sure to log this feature request and pass it along to the team, once there is any update, I will share with you as soon as possible.

  @Sunshine Any updates on this? I don't get why the access control rules apply to the guest network. It's a "GUEST" network. I expected it to at least have some setting to disable the access control on itself, but nope. How in the world did this pass QA?

 

Just picture who would be using a guest network feature: Someone who values the security of their home network, and wants a separate network for easy setup when guests come, right? Because if they didn't care about security, they will just share the non-guest network's password. Given this, it's likely they would have the access control feature on. If the access control applies to the guest network, then it destroys the whole point of having a guest network feature since it removes the convenience. They'd have to manually add the devices to access control.

 

It's been years since this issue was raised so why haven't you guys fixed it yet?
