Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.2.0 Build 20211210 rel.51212(4555)

I use the Archer as a router and the internet comes into it from a plusnet Hub One ADSL modem. When I want to connect to the Hub One therefore, say, to reboot it, it goes through the Archer C7. This works fine if the internet is connected but if there happens to be an interruption in the internet connection the Archer C7 won't connect to the Hub One and just displays a tp-link status page saying there is no internet. The Hub One is still on and working, the problem being external, at the ISP.

Is there something I can change in the settings for the Archer C7 so that it will always connect to the Hub One, even if the internet is down? I have looked around in the menus but not found anything yet.

Grateful for advice.

Hi, what is the WAN connection type on the Archer C7? like PPPoE or Dynamic IP?

When the issue happens at ISP side, please check if there is still WAN IP address on the Archer C7 router, if not, try a static WAN IP address to see if it helps.

@Sunshine Thanks for this excellent suggestion. I have set the router to a static IP address, but now I need to wait for an ISP problem before I can test it! Thanks, Simon

@Sunshine

Unfortunately setting a static ip address for my internet modem didn't work. When my connection went down yesterday I was unable to connect to the internet router, although it was clearly switched on and working.

The exact text from the Archer C7 was:

"Wan connection error! Unable to connect to the internet. Please contact your service provider or try again later."

This was followed by a link to "Set up and internet connection"

Can you suggest anything else?

This issue has been arround for some time now - check this thread.

What if you click on the "Don't remind me again" button, what happens then ? (check this thread).

If you try to login with a laptop (not an Android device) do you see the WAN connection error page ?

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

Thanks for the link to the previous thread. Shame no one came up with a solution. I don't completely buy Kevin_Z's justification for the router acting in this way. If I want to link to my modem, for example to reboot it, the C7 is basically blocking me from being able to access it.

The internet is back up now, so I don't get the error page, but next time it occurs I'll try clicking the Don't remind me again option.

I get exactly the same error page if I'm logged on to the C7 from Windows. I just happened to be using a tablet last time the internet went down.
