Model: Archer C64
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I am considering buying a TP-Link Archer C64 v1 router.

Two questions:

1) I note that the power adapter can deliver max. 12 W and presumably does not draw much more than than from mains;

but what is the actual power consumption under normal use?

2) I want to use it in access point mode.

I read that after selecting access point mode I should connect the C64's WAN port to the wired network.

So far, so good. Now comes the question:

Will the built-in network switch still work?

In other words: Can I use the 4 LAN ports to extend my wired network?

Thanks for any insights!

The C64 power consumption will depend on C64 configuration and usage - maximum is 12W. Usually it consumes less than that.

Yes when in AP mode, all of its LAN ports are available for client devices.

With one wired client and two wireless clients connected the power consumption of my C64 is around 4.0 W. The peak power recorded over a period of half an hour was 5.5 W.

Many thanks.

Say, with no USB devices, 2 idle wifi clients and 2 idle wired clients, are we looking at 1W, 2W, 4W, 6W, 8W, 10W or 11W?

I can make an educated guess only, cause I didn't use a power meter to capture C64 consumption, but I would assume between 4W-10W.

C64 doesn't have an USB port anyway.
