Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.6.10

Hi,

I've had my M5 network running for a few years, connected to a Virgin Hub 4, no problems. I recently reset everything back to default (as I had an issue with SkyQ) and when I went through the setup process to create a new network, whenever I put my Hub into Modem mode the primary M5 won't connect. When the Hub is in Router mode it connects fine, and most devices operate normally (except my Macbook and web access but that is for another posting!).

Any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the community.

When the VM hub is in modem mode, have you checked the internet connection type on the Deco? Do you need a PPPoE username and password for the Virgin Media service?

If possible, you could also connect a laptop via an Ethernet cable to the VM hub when it is in bridge modem mode so that we can check what it is the correct internet connection type for Deco.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

@David-TP All the info I can find says to use Dynamc IP which is the Default and I don't rememeber ever having to change this when I installed the Deco the first time.

Hi, if you have a wired laptop, we could connect it to the Virgin Hub 4 directly when the hub is in bridge modem mode. If the computer could get internet automatically, the connection is Dynamic IP.

If not, it is very likely the internet type is PPPoE and you could contact Virgin Media to see if you could get a pair of username and password.

Best regards.
