@Clive_A

can you arrange a beta for the ER8411 and ER706W so I can test out the IDS/IPS and DPI, I'm excited to see how it will work on these devices.

  @MR.S

IDS/IPS is still missing, I hope it comes soon too

and openVPN still does not work with UDP against an OpenVPN server running on Ubuntu.
so there I still have to use TCP

this works with UDP on ER707-M2, ER605v2 and ER706W but not ER8411.

Hi

I'm testing ER706W with Omada cloud to log web access (with syslog server) (+captive portal and safe DNS). It's not OK at this time, I thinks DPI is the key.

Do you know if/when DPI will be availlable on ER706W ?

Thanks

Hi @SAfr

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

We cannot guarantee a timeline for any firmware updates or feature availability on the x.y.z version. Please patiently wait for the firmware release on the official website or the early access beta.

This ER706W is also uncertain on this feature. It depends on the dev team's consideration of hardware and software performance.

Both features you are asking for are certain to hurt its speed performance.

Hi in follow that @MR.S  asks for the ER-706-W. It is safe that the IDS/IPS came to the ER-706-W or not? I found no other post about this topic.

thanks 🙏🏻

I cannot give you 100% guarantee. If it is supported, you'll know from the beta or the official release note on the forum. This information is not clear to me because this model is new.

Based on my experience, it should wait for a while and see if it has any problems with the wireless capacity. If there is no issue with the hardware, the resources are free and available, it might be implemented.

To be honest, the response sounds pretty upsetting. I just bought and installed ER706W and the overall UI experience in it is MUCH snappier comparing to TL-ER605 router. I'm pretty sure it has much more CPU power comparing to the old router. But wout DPI its functionality really feels incomplete.

As an installer and frequent user on the forum, if you take several minutes to read through the posts about ids, youd know that it would take a lot of resources.

There isn't too much to whine about.

You see this feature on a pretty basic model on others?

706w looks like a brother of 605 with WiFi. Doesn't see how powerful it is.

  @Tedd404 well, i'd disagree with the statement about the brother of ER605. Comparing their specs, ER605 is capable of doing 21 Mb/s of OpenVPN while ER706W is 129,3 Mb/s. PPTP szyfrowane 76 vs 209 Mb/s. So clearly ER706 has more processing power and ram comparing to ER605. Indeed, ER605 has DPI while ER706W could not provide me even basic data about the traffic in my network.
