I have installed an out door antenna.

i wanted to boost the signal coming in on a 4G LTE router.

i have read that the antennas supplied with the router are for the wifi side only, not the incoming signal. Is this correct?

Hi,

Without knowing the actual model number and hardware version of your 4G LTE router it is impossible to give a definite answer.

On most of TP-Link's 4G routers the detachable antennas are the 4G LTE antennas, for example the Archer MR600 V3 whose specifications can be read here: https://www.tp-link.com/en/home-networking/3g-4g-router/archer-mr600/v3/#specifications

Specifications for other models you could check by yourself.
