Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.5 Build 20230919 rel.12938(4555)

Hi,

My archer ax73 is randomly rebooting. This has been happening for the last 2/3 months (I don't have a specific date in time, but I am sure that before september 2023, I didn't have any problem). It seems that this problem is commong (see this thread: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/633288?replyId=1274442)

I got my archer ax73 V1 in June 2021 and I also have 2 repeaters that I use for their ethernet ports, all configured with EasyMesh (before OneMesh):

* A RE605X V2 since June 2022, on the latest firmware version: 1.0.3 Build 20230907

* A RE700X V1 since July 2023, on the latest firmware version: 1.1.4 Build 20230509

One thing that is surprising is that when this happens, all clients are disconnected all at once. But the WIFI stays ON. However, checking the logs of the router I can see that it performed a regular reboot. The last reboot happened yesterday afternoon. The next time this happens I'll check I see the lights of the router goes from-> OFF to  ON.

All wired clients get disconnected as well and the router web UI page is completely unaccessible when this happens. An then a minute or so later, everything goes back to normal.

Finally, I suspect this is happening when a lot of connections are opened with my router. I host a game server with 2 UDP ports open on the internet (with static IP from my ISP) and it seems (finger in the air, I don't have actual proof for this) that reboots are more frequent when several players are connected to my home server.

Please can something be done to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

If anyone has similar issue, please refer to the workaround provided in this thread: Archer AX73 V1&V2 might reboot automatically when working together with some Range Extenders

Hello

I have same problem with ax73 eu version 1. I have three RE705x in easymesh.

I think if ax73 has client more than 30 clients. It will trigger random reboot only on ax73. All RE705x stay online.

Thank you.

A random just happened now (at 19h36, see the logs below). I checked the router and I could see the LED light blinking (litteraly like a regular reboot).

The game server I mentionned in my original post wasn't running and there were not particular heavy usage of my network/internet.

Please find the latest logs here:

Hello

I have same problem with ax73 eu version 1. I have three RE705x in easymesh.

I think if ax73 has client more than 30 clients. It will trigger random reboot only on ax73. All RE705x stay online.

Thank you.

Hi, what is the firmware version of your AX73 V1? and did the automatic rebooting issue started since the firmware update?

Do you mean the issue will be triggered when you connect more than 30 clients to the AX73 router? no issue when no more than 30 clients? and what are your client devices usually?

How often does it happen?

Hi, please help to confirm the following details before forwarding to senior engineers:

1. When the issue happens, does the AX73 V1 router reboot automatically? or just client device loses connection/internet but the router always stays on?
2. If router stays on when issue happens, will all wired and wireless client devices are affected? and what are the affected devices?
3. When the issue happens, the affected client device will disconnect from the WiFi completely or still shows connected but no internet access?
4. Did you try disabling smart connect and try different WiFi channel and channel width?
5. Do you have any extenders in the same network? If so, is the EasyMesh enabled and a mesh network is established?
6. How often does the issue happen usually? what is the current firmware and did it start since the firmware update?

Please send an updated firmware bin that works. The router has randomly rebooted about 15times since yesterday evening (12 hrs)… I cannot do backups, I cannot print – I work as a photographer and cannot work!! Either send me a fix or please let me know what I can do to bring it back to the last functioning firmware (it won’t let me downgrade) which was Archer AX73(CA)_V1_1.2.3 Build 20230303 Thank you, Liam

also, as an update, the debug bin file your support sent will not upload to the router when connected either wired and/or wireless.  "Upload Error" no other information

***Update***
I reset the router to factory settings, reconfigured and was then able to upload the Debug firmware...  random rebooting still happening, but I have been sending logs to engineers so fingers crossed!
