What is EasyMesh with Ethernet Backhaul and Why we need it?
EasyMesh with Ethernet Backhaul refers to the Main router and the satellite device are connected via an Ethernet cable to establish an EasyMesh network. Ethernet Backhaul offers a more reliable and faster option compared to EasyMesh with Wi-Fi, ensuring a robust and efficient EasyMesh network setup.
How to create EasyMesh with Ethernet Backahul?
Pre-configuration Notice:
1.Ethernet Backhaul is supported only when both your main router and satellite extender support EasyMesh with Ethernet Backhaul.

2.The extender needs to be under wireles range extender mode, not Access Point.
3.Once the Ethernet backhaul is successfully established, the wireless backhaul will be automatically disconnected. Conversely, if the Ethernet backhaul connection gets interrupted, the devices will automatically reestablish the mesh network using the wireless backhaul.

Hello friends of cultured entertainment... I just ordered a RE705X repeater only to find out on the forum that it doesn't actually support wired mesh? So is Tp-Link kidding me? How am I supposed to share 500mbps internet over two almost meter-wide stone walls? Nowadays, I would believe it's commonplace... And you still haven't created it for many products for several years? This repeater costs much more than a router that could do it. Regardless of the fact that basically mesh can be achieved with any manufacturer? I can get it to work stably with your cheap router and an x-year-old mikrotik, and you are not able to put it together on the same technology? Is this a joke? Setting up a stable connection is difficult, but it can be done. I want to hear the official statement when you will release it! I repeat, it's almost a lawsuit, because selling such expensive repeaters for fun and not being able to feed it with a cable is treason! Shame on you and deal with it before I get there to spank you!
For other people who are as frustrated as I am... The repeater will arrive tomorrow or the day after, so I'll sacrifice the evening and start it up, even though the Tatars don't officially support it, and I'll post here the procedure how and what to set to make it work. Thank you for your patience, because I can't stand watching how incompetent people are in such a gigantic company. Have a nice day.

I completely understand your frustration. When I purchased my RE705X-V1 a year ago, I also expected to connect it to my AX55 using the Ethernet backhaul for an EasyMesh connection. The packaging (nor the official product page) didn’t make it clear that it was wireless backhaul ONLY, which was really misleading.
Given that enabling Ethernet backhaul is a relatively simple software update, I’m genuinely surprised it has taken this long to implement. TP-Link should at the very least provide transparency about their roadmap or, ideally, offer refunds for what feels like false advertising.

Hi David, I am hoping for RE500X, RE700X, & RE705X to support Ethernet backhaul really soon.
I need to extend Wi-Fi where there is no coverage. The Ethernet backhaul would solve this problem.
Also, I want to connect the extender to an unmanaged ethernet switch.

Low WiFi speed after Ethernet backhaul
So last week I bought a new
BE230 and a RE315 because that seems to be one of the combinations where ethernet backhaul should work. The RE315 adversisement page also talks about speeds of 300 Mbps and 867 Mbps https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/range-extender/re315/
As soon as I am in the range of the RE315, I can get only max 90 Mbps. I have verified that the backhaul is over ethernet. Without ethernet backhaul I get to 30 Mbps, but that was to be expected. So there is a slight improvement, but definitely not in the range expected.
First I though there might be a QoS enabled that would limit my speed, but it was disabled
I then enabled it and assigned priority to my device. This had no effect on the speedtest.
I than connected my device to the LAN which is used for the backhaul directly. and there I get my expected 900 Mbps.
So why can't the RE315 provide higher speeds under these rather optimal conditions?

I think I just found out the answer myself. RE315 has no gigabit LAN port.
@David-TP we need an extender with 1000 Mbps LAN to support Ethernet backhaul!

@David-TP re315 only has a 100mbps port? That's rather slow and useless and renders the Ethernet backhaul quite limited.
We would love to see Ethernet backhaul support added to extenders with a 1000mbps port like the re550, one of the best selling extender on Amazon.
