Trigger C420 camera recording smart action when T100 sensor detects motion
Trigger C420 camera recording smart action when T100 sensor detects motion
Hi, I have a set of C420S2 cameras, its H200 HUB and a T100 motion sensor. Everything up to date in terms of firmware and the Android app, also the latest version 3.1.315. Since I have the cameras at a height of 3 floors, the detection of motion and people does not work well at this height. For this I have purchased an additional Tapo T100 motion sensor (which does report correctly when there is movement, compared to cameras). The Tapo app only allows me to trigger the "privacy" action on cameras. I would like to ask for a feature to trigger a smart recording action of the C420 cameras (or any other avalaible models) when the T100 sensor detects movement. Thanks in advance. A cordial greeting.

I landed on this thread after a days long search to see if I could get a Smart Automation to have my C520WS pan to a stored view when a T100 is triggered by motion. That way my camera will know where to pan and tilt. Otherwise intruders can simply walk through a blindspot. The Patrol function has loopholes.
There is no explicit statement anywhere on Tapo product pages that the T100 and C520WS can integrate with each other (or with use of a hub).
My apologies if this comment is not directly relevant to the thread on C420, but it would be nice to know for all products which integrations are possible.

Yes would love this feature. It should be anything can trigger the camera to record even if it is another Camera, a smart lock etc

I've already voted for this but just adding another comment.
You would think this could be a relatively straight-forward change as the T100 can already change privacy on/off.
I'm only guessing but perhaps the T100 could send a command to a camera to 'wake up and record for x seconds' would be something that could be added without too much of a re-write?

@djinet Yes, we absolutely Need This feature. Seems like a no Brainer. The functionaliy should include the ability to Initiate recording on a given camera for any users predetermined criteria., For example, Motion on T100, Motion on Camara "A", initiate recording on Cameras "B" & "C", at 8:59 AM - initiate recording on Camera "A" for 3 minutes during store opening.... Any rules based action that could be triggered from related apps like Smart-Things. In fact, since apps like smart things can already determine if a "state change" occured, like motion on Camera "A" and then initiate a "Routine" based upon such an event, why not just integrate such built in capabilities into the tapo ecosystem;.
I have 11 Tapo Cameras and 8 of their other smart devices. Considering aquiring additional, but the motion detection range is so limiting. I have another camera system at a vactation property that has more than 2 times the range for motion detection.

@Wayne-TP Yes, please make this so for the C425! I want to place the T100 sensor at a position of my backyard where the view in the C425 currently tends to respond to people/motion in an erratic manner (due to distance/contrast/?).

A group tried to break into our home a week ago, good thing our neighbors were able to call the police in time and our door was durable, hence, no items were stolen. I had a C420 camera installed but unfortunately it didn't detect and record any footage. However, my T100 did detect the motion in our garden. It's quite frustrating thing that we didn't get any footage of them.
I'd say this features is a must for all cameras. All sensors should be able to trigger camera recording!
