Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.7.3

I have 2 Isp . I have a load balancer tplink 470t+ . I have connected both isp input from the router to the 2 wan ports on the load balancer. I need to ensure that load balancing works and failover mechanism works. So i have connected a lan cable from the loadbalancer to deco. The deco is set in AP mode.It keeps showing no signal. How do I ensure this works that is when first isp fails the second network is projected by deco with the help of load balancer.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

Your network topology is perfect and should work as expected.

I wonder If the main WAN 1 doesn't connect yet, How about the backup wan 2? is it also not connected yet?

Have you checked the WAN Status list under Transmission->Load Balancing->Online Detection?

If the main ISP hasn't been connected but backup WAN 2 does, the WAN 1 Status should be offline and the backup-WAN 2 should be online.

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi, welcome to the community.

Have you tried to connect a laptop to the R470+ when the primary WAN failed to see whether the laptop could get internet service?

How to configure Link Backup on Dual WAN Router

2. What is the Failover mode Link Backup and how to set it?

There is no need to configure addtional settings on the Deco and once R470+ failovers to the backup WAN, Deco will work directly.

Thank you very much and best regards.

Hi, I was wondering if your current network plan is like:

ISP-1(Main) \                                  /---------\

                          ------ISP router----              -----R470T+-----Deco M5

ISP-2(Backup) /                              \---------/

  • The two ISPs are connected through another router first, then 2*WAN ports on R470T+ are connected to 2*LAN ports from the first router.

or

ISP-1 \

          -----R470T+-----Deco M5

ISP-2 /

If it is the first one, I don't think it could work for load balance.

If it is the second one, Did the "ISP router" you mentioned earlier refer to ISP-2(Backup WAN)?

Thank you very much.

Wait for your reply and best regards.
