VX230V Firmware Issue
VX230V Firmware Issue
hello tp link support,
I've tried to reach out to your support regarding the firmware for the Australian VX230v modem, but I have not heard if and where there will be a fix for this newly released firmware.
You has posted the latest firmware for this model on the following page
https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/download/vx230v/#Firmware
The firmware VX230v(AU)_V1_231016 has major issues
1. Dial tone is hard coded to European or USA standard, but this is Australian firmware / model version. You can not even adjust this.
2. The modem seems to have a some kind of issue, because after its been running for a couple of hours, the cpu usage starts to sit at around 70 to 100%
3. The main page where it shows the types of clients connects, the wired part does not show all the connected clients, after a while it shows 0, even though there are wired clients connected.
These are just a tip of the issues I found with this firmware.
Tp-Link should
1. remove this faulty firmware from your web page, and/or
2. provide an updated firmware that fixes these issues, which should have been picked up in the testing.

I have observed all of your listed bugs in the latest firmware release also.
I found your post by searching high CPU usage on the VX230v.
Would also like to add that I get hundreds of log entries "Unable to find route for incoming call". I do not have any VoIP details configured.
All of these issues need to be fixed quickly. I have stopped using the device for the time being.

Good to hear I'm not the only one that's noticed these issues. Tp link support doesn't seem to believe me.
The VoIP entries in the log file is nothing to be concerned about as I have noticed them in the previous firmware version too.
I have a theory that it could be something with the mesh function of the router that's causing the high CPU usage.
Anyway for the moment not much you can do with this dodgy firmware, tp link won't even post the roll back firmware version either.

Thanks for the tip regarding the log entries.
I do disable mesh when I setup the device, however that option could also be a bug etc.
The sad thing is, I like the device and spec wise its all I need. TP-Link really need to have a look at their software consistently. Especially if they class this as an ISP provided device.

@BKWQ I have noticed if you disable mesh, and wifi and other wifi features such as WPS the cpu usage does spike up, then when I enabled mesh, the cpu usage dropped down. So my theory is that its somehow linked to wifi/mesh service.
then there is the other issues, like wrong dial tone for Australia, not showing all the devices connected to the modem etc.

I've been experiencing issues with the VX230v modem firmware, particularly with the latest version VX230v(AU)_V1_231016. The dial tone seems to be hardcoded to European or USA standards, causing compatibility problems in Australia. Additionally, there are issues with Smd screens CPU usage and client connectivity, with the wired part not displaying all connected clients accurately.

And this is the pathetic thing tplink is failing to acknowledge these issues and are still keeping the firmware up.

Hello, there are many problems in the Vx230v EU software, if you look at the topics I have opened before, you can see more clearly. Will there be a software update for the EU version?
