Model: TL-WR841N
Hardware Version: V14
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 4.17 v0001.0 Build 200903 Rel.58674n

We have two floors in our home, to make the range reach upstairs we used a tp link router in Access Point Mode which caused the downstairs WiFi to slow down till 2mbps (average is 55mbps) and upstairs was perfectly fine. After a while of trying to resolve the issue, we ended up opting in for wireless extending via Range Extender Mode and although it worked, downstairs was having 50mbps and upstairs was 10-20mbps which is noticeably slower.

We are still using wireless extending but I am curious if there's any way to have wired extending while not compromising speed for the both of us

TL-WR841N in AP mode (Case 1) should not cause any bandwidth drop to your main router. You'll get the best bandwidth when TL-WR841N is in AP mode.

If bandwidth drop is observed only on wireless devices then try changing TL-WR841N wireless channel to another one (1, 6 or 11).

This will reduce any wireless interference caused by the TL-WR841N.

@terziyski I set the router to use AP mode in channel 11, I'll reply to this message in around an hour to tell the results for both wifi connections. (Right now, its perfectly equal)

No worries, I've put a hyperlink in my post leading to the AP mode configuration guide for more clarity.
