Model: Deco X90
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.6 build 20231225 rel. 33179

Hi,

I have 8 Deco X90 in my house as mash routers. In one of the rooms, the X90 keeps failing. Here's what happened:

1. after successful a setup, green light

2. after a couple of days, blue light blinking

3. tried reset, delete and re-setup, firmware updated, etc

4. step 2 above happened again

5. switch the unit with that from another room - problem room's new unit now inherit the issue, while old unit in new room works fine

I suspect there is something wrong with the power source - the wall plug. I got my multimeter, wall plug tester out. Voltage, current, etc all measured and ok. Got the same readings from problem room and other rooms.

Now, I ran out of ideas.

Suggestions?

thanks

Hi, usually there are two ways to get Deco into blue light blinking:

1. hold the reset pinhole for 1s.

2. "remove' this unit from the Deco APP.

Since it is always in the same room, would it be possible for someone(maybe a naughty kid) to accidentally reset the Deco?

I noticed you had the Deco for a while. Did this issue start recently?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi,

No chance for an accidental reset at all. This unit is placed high. This is my daughter's room. She is 28 and no kids.

i think this issue is somehow related to my power source.

cheers

If you are out of ideas, here is one. If there is a room adjacent to problem room, take Deco from problem room and place it to the adjacent room, as close to the wall separating both rooms as possible.

  @Alexandre.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's my "if all else failed" solution too, with a bit of modification.

I am going to pull power from a "working" wall plug along the corridor, run the cable as far to the problem room as possible, and setup the Deco right outside the door (if not inside, provided cables clear the gap below the door without having to punch holes). Not pretty.

Cheers

Another option would be to get the most inexpensive Uninterruptible Power Supply you could find and connect Deco in problematic room through it. UPS will guarantee delivery of standard voltage and frequency to Deco, no matter what power input from socket is.

Some UPS can even alert if input is not right.

An "inexpensive" when attributed to UPS is a relative term, of course.

Note that you will need true UPS with the battery, not power surge protector without the battery.
