Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello together!

My Setup:

- Router (200-250mb Download)

- EAP225 outdoor - wired connection to Router (200-250mb/s download)

- EAP225 outdoor - wirless connection (This EAP had normally around 100-120mb/s download)

My issue:

The wirless connected EAP225 has now only 3-4 MB/s download. The upload is around 20mb/s.

My router and the wired connected EAP225 have the regular functionality and capability.

The Controller shows me both EAP`s are DISCONNECTED. But i am using the wirless EAP WIFI. (slow but it works)

Cloud Access = CONNECTED

Any idea why the wirless EAP225 has such a low download rate?

I had this issue 2-3 months ago. I updated the firmwares of all and set it up again. Then it worked again. I dont want to do this again. Any ideas why this issue is coming up again? Before i had 3 years no issues at all and it worked fine.

Further data:

1x EAP225-Outdoor(EU) v1.0 - FW  5.1.1 Build 20230921 Rel. 63318

1x EAP225-Outdoor(EU) v3.0 - FW  5.1.1 Build 20230921 Rel. 63318

Omada Controller v5.13.22

Many thanks for reading this through. I would really appreciate your feedback on this.

@Virgo  & @d0ugmac1

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I found out now why the status showed for both AP`s DISCONNECTED. My Firewall was active and blocked them to use via the OMADA Control Station. stupid me crying

I had to reset the wireless EAP, connect them to my router, adopt again and put in wireless mode. The EAP has now again good downlload speed between 100-120MB/s.

Still i am not sure what has caused the drop of my download speed at the wirless EAP, even when Router and the wired EAP have no issue and good speed.

Fingers crossed it will not happen a third time. I am not using a ER605. Its a German AVM FritzBox. I am not sure if this router reboots automatically. At least we dont touch it as long as it works. wink Unfortunately i dont see in my controller the router. Maybe because the router is not from TP-LINK? I see only 2 AP`s.

Again, thank you both for your inputs.. My apologies for the late reply and that i forgot to turn of the firewall to access the Controller.

  @TheWifiNoob

Can a reboot fix the issue? If not, this does not exclude the problem of the EAP wearing itself out over the years. You can use it in standalone mode and do not reset, run an iperf test, copy the result and contact the support team to check the warranty.

Ah...don't forget to check the ethernet cable, maybe not EAP, better use a short cable to do the test again.

If you're using an ER605, you need to set it up to reboot at least monthly, otherwise it gets into memory panic mode.  I think this problem extends to other routers like the 7206, but because it has more memory, it takes longer to get to the saturation point.  In your controller, if you look at your device stats for the router and both APs, what are the CPU and Memory sitting at?

For instance, one of my 650v1's is currently sitting at ~ 45% memory and about 4% CPU
