Hello.

This matter is general but since I am interested to buy Deco X50 poe, I open the topic here.

I know this is the trend but I consider it as a vulnerability plot.

Why do I need to create a cloud account in order to setup a simple device as a router or AP?

Why it is not possible to use the web interface directly?

Is it possible to set up without cloud account?

I wanted to check how does this work but the Deco emulator is not available in the site.

Why do I want this?

I do not like any of my devices to be tied to cloud servers. I do not trust cloud services and I try to use them as low as possible.

I use a local home automation server.

My IoT's have opensource firmware and use the local automation server.

  @RaDoRu

Hi, welcome to the community.

Deco is designed for cloud control so it has to be set up over Deco APP with a certain TP-Link email ID.

Apart from Deco X50-POE, I think maybe you could also have a look at our EAP Mesh system, such as

How to Build a Mesh Network via Omada EAP in Your Home

Thank you very much and Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for the idea.

I know I have looked on this solution in the past and the need for a separate controller kept me away of the solution.

But who knows what reserve the future.
