I am trying to use the 6GHz band with my M2 Pro Mac Mini.

I have my Decos connected via ethernet so have the 6 GHz setting on Wi-Fi Network and Backhaul. I cannot get the Mac Mini 2 to see the 6GHz wifi network, even though it is supposed to be supported.

Anyone else managed to do this? Is there some setting or trick to making it work?

  @troelshartmann there's a setting that lets you set up a separate 6ghz channel , at least with my deco be65. It works perfect on my m2 Mac mini. It will let you choose the regular Wifi (name) or the 6ghz (name-6ghz)

Btw , I think you need set dedicated backhaul off , to free the 6ghz channel for a separate WiFi channel

There is no option to turn off backhaul - it's either use "6GHZ for backhaul", or "Use 6GHz for Wifi Network and Backhaul". Those are the only options.

Selecting the second option enable the network and SSID for the 6GHz network, which is what I have. But nothing can see it.

In settings , advanced , I have an option ‘ dedicated backhaul’ that one is turned off in my settings. All I know is that the range of 6ghz channel isn’t as far as the 5ghz , but my Mac is about 8 meters away with one thick wall in between and I get a signal of around 1900Mbs

  @Rob0705 No such setting on my XE75, latest firmware. All I have is this, under Wifi settings. Can you post a screenshot? You have an XE75, right?

  @troelshartmann

Hi, Have you checked whether 6GHz has been adopted in local Wi-Fi regulations?

So far, the list here hasn't listed Cambodia

https://www.wi-fi.org/countries-enabling-wi-fi-in-6-ghz-wi-fi-6e

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Backhaul over 6GHZ works fine. Why shouldn't the 6GHz network work?

Does the router do this kind of detection and disable functionality? I'd expect the router to warn me if it is explicitly disabling this without telling me!

  @troelshartmann

Hi, did you purchase Deco XE75 in the local market?

You could refer to the following two pictures to check whether your Mac Mini M2 Pro supports 6GHz or not:

PS: Deco XE75 works on the U-NII-5 band(and its supported channels are already below 93) and will select the best channel automatically.

Here is what I think:

Usually, the WiFi 6E/7 Deco wouldn't be solid to 6GHz-restricted regions. Some users might purchase the general US or EU version abroad. If the current location hasn't decided whether 6 GHz should be adopted, Deco(with the embedded EU/US code) might still work on 6 GHz and other overseas 6 GHz products(such as the US version of the iPhone) might detect the 6 GHz. For the local-purchased devices, the internal region code is locked to KH and might not have opened 6GHz yet.

Thank you very much and best regards.

I bought my Mac and Deco both in Australia. The country code on the Mac as above, shows US.

It lists many 6GHz channels:

Also, my Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 (which also supports 6GHz) and was bought in Australia, also does not see the 6GHz wifi from the Deco.

Looks like the issue is with the Deco to me.
