Deco M9 Plus V2
Deco M9 Plus V2
Hi,
My Deco M9 Plus (EU) is still on an older firmware version 1.2.10 Build 20190209 Rel. 54285. The Deco app update says is currently up-to-date. Anyone faced the same issue and how to resolve it? Note I am in UAE region.

Not able to connect to the router settings 192.168.68.1 using both ethernet nor wifi.
With firmware 1.2 you will not be able to login to Main Deco. You must use Method 3 from the document I provided. It will instruct you to download special tool which will perform upgrade.
This is where in the document I provided instructions start that you must follow:
Method 3: Update the firmware via upgrade tool, which only applies to Deco M5 and Deco M9 Plus V2.
Here we take Deco M5 as an example.
Step 1 Please refer to the link below to download the upgrade utility on your computer.

@DaniSa Exactly the same problem... not solved unfortunately... I tried to use the upgrade tool but that keeps crashing on scanning the network. Firmware is too old to use the Web ID and the Deco App doesn't seem to work either (tells me the firmware is up to date).
So all the three methods on https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1599/ don't seem to work...

Please follow this document, and in it Method 3: How to Update the Firmware of Deco
You only need to do it once: if successful, after that you will be able to update M9 Plus through Deco app.

Can confirm this. On my desktop pc, however, the upgrade tool crashed every time. After that I tried method 3 (with the upgrade tool) with my laptop, and voila. Did the trick.

I am on Windows 11 and Windows Defender and Bitdefender are warning me and not allowing me to install the app can't even override the warning. Any idea if it works with Windows 11 and if it is 100% safe?

Can you download ZIP file and extract the utility?

@Alexandre. Was able to complete the upgrade using another laptop running on Windows 10 with no issue. Thank you for your help and prompt replies. :)

Glad to hear that. There are so many useful features in new versions of M9 Plus firmware, you would not regret efforts to update it from firmware 1.2.
From now on, you should be able to update M9 Plus through Deco app. Check Update Deco page in Deco app from time to time, it should now alert you when new firmware is available and will install it.

@Alexandre. I am already familiar with the new version as on the network I have 6 Decos 3 of them Ver 2.0 and the other 3 are Ver 1.0. The Ver 1.0 has the latest firmware and auto-updating. Whereas the Ver 2.0 is not updating. So I connected 1 of the 3 decos Ver 2.0 to a new network and upgraded it to the latest version.
For the other 2 Decos can I upgrade them while they are connected to the network with other version or better to disconnect and upgrade them and then connect them back to the main network?
Note: My main Deco is of the Ver 1.0.
