Hi.

I am experiencing a problem with the parent control on the Deco app.

When I add a profile for my son and block a certain homepage (in this case www.youtube.com), the laptop attached to the profile can't access the internet or works extremely slow.

I have tried to delete my sons profile, reboot the mesh network, re-attach the laptop and other stuff but nothing helps. Every time I adds a block of a homepage to the profile, the laptop loses internet access on the mesh network.

Any suggestions to fix the problem?

Regards

MeshDad

Hi, welcome to the community.

"When I add a profile for my son and block a certain homepage (in this case www.youtube.com), the laptop attached to the profile can't access the internet or works extremely slow."

- Would there be a temporary solution to get the internet connection back, such as deleting the blocked websites, or removing the laptop from the current parental control profile?

- Are you able to constantly reproduce this issue on different devices?

- And did this issue just start recently?

- Please go to Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP server and change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4

How to change DNS server settings on my Deco

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Yes, I can get the internet connect to work again, if I delete the laptop from the parent control profile again or delete the profile completely.

However, then the point of the parent control diappears!

  @MeshDad

Hi, Thanks for the update.

Have you tried to edit the DNS settings?

I'm not sure what might be the problem and if you'd like to spend a little more time, I would like to follow up on your case via email and cooperate with the senior engineer on what might be the problem.

Wait for your reply and best regards.
