Model: TL-WN822N
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version: TL-WN822N(EU) Ver:6.0

With the TP-LINK TL-WN822N V6 version adapter, it is no longer possible to create ad-hoc WiFi in a Windows 10 environment, whereas with the same type of older hardware version, this was possible. Why was this capability removed?

That would be exactly what I needed, and the reason I bought several of these WiFi adapters is because the older version (with a mini USB connection on the device) allowed for this, but since only this V6 version is available for purchase now and it doesn't support this feature, it's disappointing.

Moreover, the TP-Link website still states that it supports the ad-hoc WiFi function.

  @Adamando

Hi, if you plan to share your internet connection, you could try to enable Mobile hotpost on the windows 10.

Use your Windows PC as a mobile hotspot

As for ad-hoc network, I think it is more related to the current windows OS and you could refer to the suggestions here to see whether it helped:

How do I set up an ad-hoc WiFi network in Windows 10?

Thank you very much and best regards.
