Model: UE300
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: unknown

No Hardware or Firmware info on label (where to find?)

Has worked fine (plug & play) on 6 mth old pc.

For several days connection has been dropping

now when I connect adapter after startup, the pc beeps

and recognizes new device and asked what should be done with it.

When I connect adapter with Device Manager running the adapter

is displayed under Network Adapters but only stays for several seconds.

There was a firmware update outstanding from Dell, I applied that but

the problem continues.

I've tested the network cable and adapter on two other PCs (Dell XPS 2720 windows 10

and Dell Inspiron 27 7720 AIO windows 11) on both of these the adapter works fine.

co-pilot suggests I may need a v4 tp-link driver, if so, what's my route to success?

  @David-TP

thank you for your reply David.

I followed your Realtek link but was still unsure what driver to load.

It still bothered me that Device Manager briefly recognized the adapter and

more followup there indicated that the adapter was not enabled.

After enabling it I was able to view details and saw active driver was

Realtek 11/5/2022 ver 1153.10.20.1104. I connected my network cable to

the adapter and the other end to the network connection on my eero 6 wifi node

and the internet access icon on laptop immediately changed from wifi to wired.

So, I'm back in business for now. I'll mark this post as Solved (if I can)

  @Cooper2024

Hi, You can refer to this link to identify the hardware version:

How to find the hardware and firmware version of my TP-Link device

I found UE300 uses the same chip-RTL8153 from V1 to V4. So I think if the current version did not work well with Dell Inspiron 16-5620 Windows 11, changing the hardware of the UE adapter might not help.

Maybe you could install the driver here to see whether it helped:

https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/network-interface-controllers-10-100-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-usb-3-0-software

Thank you very much and best regards.

Re:USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Network Adapter no longer recognized on Dell Inspiron 16-5620 Windows 11
Sunday

@Cooper2024 so, a month later and I'm back to say the tp ue-300 has worked under all other tests.

What didn't work here was the combination of the ue-300 plugged into a a atolla usb switch plugged

into my Dell Inspiron laptop (only has 1 usb slot). Also in the switch was a dongle for wireless mouse

and keyboard (wife didn't like the laptop keyboard) and also a Samsung T7 usb drive. Along the way

I incorrectly blamed the Eero wifi 6 node for drops and the Samsung T7 for disconnects.

What seems to be working FOR NOW is removing the usb switch, connecting the T7 diectly to the

laptop, using a bluetooth mouse and asking my wife to put up with the laptop keyboard for awhile.

It's been an adventure and still not 100% sure I need a different usb switch.

I should add, my solution eliminates the UE-300 which I'd prefer for better (wired) connection.

Does anyone use a UE-300 into a usb switch? What switch?
