Hi all,
Can someone from TP Link explain to me what the conditions are for the BE85 to be ablle to provide 320Mhz channel width to clients?

The mobile clients need to be WiFi 7-supported and the 320Mhz in the 6 GHz band(5925-6425 MHz) has been adopted in the local wireless regulations.

Before clients are considered the WiFi 7 router needs to be providing a 320Mhz wide SSID on the 6Ghz band so that clients can connect to it but my BE85 doesn't broadcast such a SSID.
In Australia the lower 6Ghz band is approved for use and it can provide one 320Mhz channel (of two possible 320Mhz wide channels) or 3 160Mhz channels (5925-6425 Mhz).
I have a Samsung S24 Ultra which supports Wifi 7 and connects to the broadcast 160Mhz channel using 802.11be just fine.
But there is no 320Mhz wide SSID so what I'm after is what are the requirements/rules (such as does Ausstralia allow 320Mhz, everything I see implies it does) that come into play here which the firmware developers should be familiar with.

Hi, Thanks for the update.
How about the wireless link speed(PHY speed) and internet speedtest on the Samsung S24 Ultra, for example:
The maximum link speed of 160mhz over 6Ghz on BE85 should be up to 5.7G.

Some users did manage to get S24 ultra on 320MHz with another WiFi 7 router.
Did you use any other WiFi 7 router before?

@raven-au I don't think you've quite got what I'm asking.
I know the BE85 SSIDs are 160Mhz and that there are no 320Mhz SSIDs based on what I have seen in a WiFi monitoring app and these same apps also confirm my phone is getting only 160Mhz.
I get roughly between 1800 and 5100 mbps PHY rate on the phone, depending on location in my house, and the WiFi info. apps show the connection as 802.11be.
In my journey I did see that the S24 Ultra can do 320Mhz.
I have only recently got this phone and WiFi 7 routers are not readily available here so the BE85 is the only router I can use at the moment.
So, I am asking for someone to consult with the router software engineers to answer the question about what things can influence whether 320Mhz can be used on the BE85 and what I should see to identify the 320Mhz channel width is being used (perhaps it's different to what is normally seen for ac and ax).
I also provided you with the 6Ghz frequency range permitted in my country in case that makes a difference.
Is there any other relevant info. I can provide (if I know it).

Hi, as there are limited details about 320MHz in the database, I attempted to consult with the engineers earlier. However, they have not provided any further recommendations yet.
Based on the current information, I do think you are supported to get 320MHz on S24 ultra when connected to 6GHz of BE85.
I asked about the PHY rate because I think, there is a chance that the current speed-test APP might be unable to detect 320MHz since the Reddit user mentioned he could get 3.3G via speedtest, indicating he should be on 320MHz but Unifi's Wifiman still said the AP was on 160MHz. So I thought if your PHY rate could exceed 5.7G, the current 6G SSID of BE85 is actually working on 320 MHz.
However, your PHY rate confirms that the BE85 is actually on 160MHz, and my original suspicion of the WiFi Analyze tools no longer stands. I would love to provide further requirements of 320MHz as soon as there is an update from the engineers.

Hi, I got the reply from the engineers.
He explained if the PHY rate/link speed is about 5100m/s on the S24 ultra, the 6GHz is now wroking on 320MHz.
Here are more details:
For Deco BE85, it is 4*4 MU-MIMO. Its maximum link speed over 6Ghz is up to 11520m/s(2882*4)
on the S24 ultra, it should be 2*2 MU-MIMO. Its maximum link speed over 6Ghz is up to 5760m/s(2882*2).
So I missed the wireless transmission gain via MU MIMO.
As for the reported wireless bandwidth of 160MHz in the wireless monitoring APP, he also mentioned that some monitor APPs might haven't updated to detect 320MHz.

@David-TP indeed, after thinking about your comments I came to the conclusion that maybe it is an app reporting problem.
There is one further curiousity, I am using the MLO SSID over the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands so we get:
The router:
4x4@320Mhz: 6Ghz 11520 Mbps
5Ghz 8640 Mbps
-----------------
20160 Mbps
So the phone should be (assuming I am actually getting 320Mhz):
2x2@320Mhz: 6Ghz 5760 Mbps
5Ghz 4320 Mbps
-----------------
10080 Mbps
Suppose there's an overhead for MLO using 2 bands (arbitrary, say 20%) gives maximum of about 8000 Mbps.
So we would have to say there's probably a bit of work to do on the Wifi 7 implementation.
Can we get any actual info. about how MLO should behave also please?
So maybe the apps aren't even reporting the correct PHY rate ... or maybe the BE85 isn't actually doing MLO (it should be, right?).
The UniFi app seems unable to work out which is uplink and which is the downlink so that pretty much a waste of time.

Final ratification of Wi-Fi 7 is expected to happen at the end of 2024. But based on the early draft in 2021, companies jumped to announce Wi-Fi 7 routers, with availability in 2023, when half of the world hadn't adopted WiFi 6E.
Let 320 MHz become popular first (which won't happen until 2030)

@ImtiazAli I thought WiFi 7 was made official some time in January??
The Wifi Alliance has a certification program so surely there is an accepted standard they can certify against.

@raven-au Don't forget some of the residential tech that supports WiFi 7 maybe be pre-standard until it has been certified by the WiFi Alliance, so there could be a delay for the firmware to catch up and possibly the 'chipset' might not fully support all the features?
