Using EAP683LR with PoE+
Constantly when full activity in outlet there are 200+ users with cloud based POS system running.
The guests network ssid on busy nights 200+ users is sometimes not giving access to certain users at times. In the main room where most activity is there are 2 units of EAP683LR handling wifi users.
Controller is windows based PC running the software.
EAP683 LR(US) v1.0 (6units) all wired using cat6
SG2218P (1unit)
ER707-M2 (1unit)
ISP fiber optic 1Gbps
Concerns / input needed.
1)what is the issue with the EAP683LR not allowing some guests to connect?
2)how many users are in recommended bracket for the EAP683LR for the system to run smoothly?
3)would it be more stable to put a standalone power supply for the EAP's?
4)would it improve overall network if a OC200 controller is added?
Hi @Roy77
The capacity will be affected by the wireless environment, actual usage, excessive high traffic clients or serious wireless interference both can reduce actual capacity, and is generally less than the maximum number of client connections.
For your questions:
1. If there are much guests are trying to connect to a single EAP especially connect to the 2.4GHz SSID of this EAP, it might cause the association timeout.
2. Generally we may suggest no more than 80-100 clients in both bands for each EAP. But please note that 2.4GHz clients might be affected more easily.
3. The power supply will not affect the capacity.
4. If you are able to keep running the software controller, there is no need to have the OC200 controller.
For your information, you can try to enable the band steering function on controller currently. Band steering can adjust the number of clients in 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands to provide better wireless experience. If you would like to have the EAP with more capacity, the EAP HD series will be recommended.
